BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today blamed the government for “tramping down” the fundamental goal of education and said the present pass rate in the education sector has “degraded quality education.”
“The government is suffering from self-satisfaction by increasing pass rate in education sector. If the trend is continued, we will be unsuccessful in overcoming the situation. Even, our progress will be hampered and we will lag behind in the international competition,” she added.
The former prime minister came up with the remarks while addressing a seminar titled “Present Education System of Bangladesh and Our Future” at Ladies Club in Dhaka this afternoon.
Stressing the need for education, Khaleda said education makes people respectful to democracy and dissenting voices.
“But unfortunately, our government has destroyed the fundamental goal of the education,” she said.
The BNP Chairperson alleged that there is no good governance and rule of law in the country as the government has become desperate to eliminate all of its political opponents.
“We will have to get rid of the situation. We will restore democracy and will establish people’s right through united movement,” she said.
