Bangladesh crush Malaysia
A brilliant century from Towhid Hridoy helped Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team to almost assure the semifinal berth of the ACC Youth Asia Cup Cricket 2017 courtesy of a 262-run win over hosts Malaysia at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, media told.

It means Mohammad Saif Hassan-led Young Tigers have won both of their first two games in Group A. In the first match at Kinrara Oval on Saturday, they beat Nepal by two wickets under D/L method.

India and Nepal are also in the semifinal race with one win from two group engagements.

India thrashed Malaysia by 202 runs on Friday while Nepal upset giants India by 19 runs on Sunday.

Bangladesh will play India while Nepal will face Malaysia in the remaining Group A matches on Tuesday.

Sent in to bat first, Bangladesh piled up 335 runs for 6 thanks to the 190-run 3rd wicket partnership between Towhid Hridoy and captain Saif Hassan.

Towhid made a run-a-ball 120 thanks to seven fours and four sixes while Saif Hassan hit 90 off 103, with five fours and three sixes.

Muhammad Hafiz grabbed four wickets for 78.

Chasing a Himalayan target, hosts Malaysia could only manage 73 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs. Only captain Virandeep Singh reached double figure, scoring 46 runs off 130 balls, hitting five boundaries.

Shakhwat Hossain claimed three wickets for 18 runs while Afif Hossain took two for 19.
