Police on Wednesday filed five cases against BNP leaders and activists including BNP Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel in connection with yesterday’s clash with law enforcers in Dhaka.
Four of the cases – arson, vandalism, preventing lawmen from discharging duties and attempt to murder – were filed with Shahbagh Police Station, said Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Fifty-six BNP leaders and activists have been sued in three cases while 60 sued in another case filed with the police station, the police official said.
Besides, law enforcers filed another case with Ramna Police Station in connection with the clash, police said.
Meanwhile, 30 BNP leaders and activists including its Sports Secretary Aminul Islam were sent to jail after police produced them before a Dhaka court seeking 10-day remand prayer for each.
The hearing on the remand plea will be held on December 10.
