The prices of most of the shares on both bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading on Monday.
DSEX, the benchmark index of the prime bourse, gained 2.24 points or 0.03 percent to 6,246.76 at 11:56 am.
But the two other indices at DSE edged lower till then. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) went down by 2.10 points or 0.15 percent to 1,388.56.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also lost 6.93 points or 0.30 percent to stand at 2,276.29 points.
Of the issues traded, 183 gained, 83 declined and 29 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 1,280.55 million changed hands till then at the DSE.
Paramount Textile was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 87.35 million changing hands followed by Alif Industries, National Bank, Lafarge Surma Cement and Dragon Sweater and Spinning.
The port city bourse - Chittagong Stocks Exchange (CSE) - also witnessed a positive trend in the early with its Selective Category Index gaining 32.57 points to 11682.19 at 11:55 am.
Of the issues 135 traded till then, 82 gained, 36 declined and 17 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 61.81 million.
