Both the bourses Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downward trends in the early hours of trading on Wednesday as investors were on selling spree.
The benchmark index of the DSE went down by 8.23 points, while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse shed 25.68 points.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed 8.23 points or 0.13 percent to stand at 6,198 at 12pm.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.32 points or 0.16 percent to stand at 1,430.83 points.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also shed 1.02 points or 0.04 percent to stand at 2,301 points.
Trade deals stood at 34,168 with transaction at over Tk 1,533 million on the DSE.
Of the issues traded till then, 113 advanced, 129 declined and 63 issues remained unchanged.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 136.37 million changing hands at 12:20pm, followed by Grameenphone, Square Pharmaceuticals, BBS Cables and National Tubes.
The port city bourse also saw a negative trend with its Selective Category Index - CSCX - losing 25.68 points to stand at 11,542 points, also at 11:58am.
Of the issues traded till then, 49 gained, 75 declined and 28 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 151 million.
